Title: New Announce URL!

After the whole issue with PID's we've decided to move to a new announce URL. This will allow us to track torrents more accurately and present better stats to our visitors.

For all the new torrents that you upload, PLEASE use the new announce URL which is:
http://bt.emuparadise.org:2710/announce

The old announce URL shall no longer accept new torrents. Don't worry though, your previous uploads are still healthy and will still accept seeds and peers. Only new uploads need to have the new announce URL in them.

Title: Bittorrent Tracker Updates!

We've been seeing increasing amounts of traffic over the last few weeks on the Bittorrent tracker and this resulted in high server loads. Thus, with a view to plan for the future we've changed our Bittorrent tracker back-end to the C++ XBT. Earlier, we were using the XBtit tracker and since this was coded in PHP, once we hit around 1000 peers our server load would start to spike up. This new back-end should be able to handle around 10,000 peers easily without any visible effect on server load.

There was some problem with importing your PID's into the new tracker but I'll be working on that as well as some other issues. You can still use the tracker as it is accepting anonymous downloads for now. We'll be re-enforcing the PID's once this issue is resolved.

Also, a slight change is that your tracker is now located at http://bt.emuparadise.org:6969 and the announce URL is the same as before http://bt.emuparadise.org:8989/announce.php. Thus, you don't need to modify anything, your old torrents will still show up as seeded and active. All you need to do is access the tracker at the new address.

Title: Tracker updated and moved!

Hi!

Well, I've just moved the tracker to the same server as the main website. The reason for this move was that ever since we went private, we've had fewer and fewer peers, thus eliminating the need for a high end dedicated server.

I've also upgraded the tracker to Xbtit V2 which is a better tracker compared to our older Btit V1.4.4. There're a few things to sort out still, CSS especially, some colours screwed up, some boxes out of place, but all in all, everything should be in working condition.

I might be migrating the tracker backend to an xbtt based tracker as well so that we can handle high loads in the future. Still trying to decide upon whether that shall be necessary..

Well, do continue doing your daily stuff wink.gif The tracker hasn't seen any downtime, if your torrents disappeared during the move, please reupload them to this new tracker. We might have had some loss during the synching process.
